Path of the National Technical University "Kharkov Polytechnic Institute" in independent Ukraine is the path to joining the Bologna process, to integration into European and world educational space. Kharkov Polytechnic University, according to the definition of the Charter, is really "a center of culture, knowledge and Research”, which is the University. The History of Kharkov Polytechnic since its existence has become an integral part of the scientific, technical, intellectual and cultural history of Ukraine. Kharkov Polytechnic effective uses all the opportunities given to it by the status of national university of Ukraine. NTU "KhPI" today -includes 23 faculties, 91 departments, Institute of tank troops by Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine, school for machine, scientific-technical library with fund about 2 million volumes of books, inter-branch institute for advanced studies staff, center for advanced studies, the newest information technology center, center for strategic planning and research department, three research institutes. The magistrates, post-graduate courses, doctoral studies, the scholars of the university annually protect more than 50 candidate and dissertation. At NTU "KhPI” are study more than 22 thousand students and 320 graduate students, including about one thousand –are foreign students from 31 countries of the world. They are taught by 1700 academics, 160 Doctors of Science and Professors and more than 800 - PhD lecturers. 17 honored workers of science and technology and honored workers of higher educational institutions of Ukraine, 8 laureates of State Prize, 3 academicians and Corresponding Members of NAS of Ukraine, 26 academicians of the branch of Science of Ukraine.

University in recent years opened 35 new specialties, 7 new departments, 5 new faculties, including German faculty and the training courses in English.

In 2011 the international affairs of National Technical University "Kharkov Polytechnic Institute" had celebrated its 83 years. Now NTU "KhPI" continues to consolidate and expand its contacts with 108 foreign partners with 33 countries of the world (Austria, Belgium, Bulgaria, Great Britain, Vietnam, Greece, Denmark, Estonia, India, Spain, Italy, China, Korea, the Netherlands, Germany, Poland, Russia, Romania, Slovakia, the USA, Hungary, France, Sweden, Vietnam, Georgia, Tajikistan and other countries).
