Prepare to migrate and study in Germany later;

German Universities are working online even while the campuses are closed for the time being. Continuing students are offered classes online un-interrupted, to make sure that no student miss any classes due to the COVID-19 situation. Interestingly, all these are happening while the students are staying at their home / hostel / homestay residence. 

Admission staff are  working remotely, from their home. Applications for new admissions are accepted, processed and letter of admissions are issued. Foundation courses are offered online by the studienkollegs, language courses are taught live online by the centres of language, and Schools.

All made possible by acting quickly, and according to the demand and situation, by the German institutions during the COVID-19 crisis. German higher education accepts and deliver online teaching even while a student is in his / her home country. The policies are such that even the system allows students to arrive later, and continue with the campus studies as soon as  the travel restrictions lifted.

German institutions have started responding to the current COVID 19 situation by introducing distance and online education. Those who wish to study for a bachelor’s degree can, right away enrol on the preparatory course (First year of the 1+3 course). Start with the basic level of German language learning, and progress on to the next and higher levels.

Generally, the basic level require 100 classes of 45 minutes to 1 hour and a smart learner can even complete it in 65 hours. its required to learn up to B1/B2 level before being accepted to a foundation course which is mandatory for a bachelor’s degree study in German University.

If the current situation is changed by the time you have achieve the said B1/B2 level in German, you may apply for a visa and start the foundation course in the campus in Germany. Whereas you can attend the foundation course as well online now, if the current situation is continuing a sit is for a longer period.

Foundation course has two semesters of 6 months each, and you have to options of ;

  1. complete the foundation here while at home and sit the examination in Germany later, at the end of the course.
  2. migrate and continue with your studies, in Germany, at any point of time and at any stage of the course/s, provided the situation is changed in favour.


Start learning German directly from the German institution or online / offline from a qualified native German speaking teacher at our institution in India. Keep learning German till the situation is changed. You may apply for a visa whenever its fine to travel and arrive in Germany, and continue with the German classes. This could also help in reducing the duration of the language course in Germany and also the total cost including language tuition fees and cost of living.

You may also complete your language learning in your home country and achieve C1 Level proficiency. Then migrate to Germany, sit the DSH / TestDAF examination and then progress on to the Master’s Degree course for which an admission offer is already obtained.

Number of electives in a semester or subjects are not fixed, as the core point would be the total credits achieved at the end of the studies for a degree. It’s equally applicable to students in undergraduate as well as graduate studies. ‘You frame out your study plans, yourself ‘!

Completing your degree course in the 6-8 semesters for a bachelor degree or 3-4 semesters for a master’s degree is not that much important, but what grade you have achieved at last matters. Some students may even take more time to complete a degree program provided it was required for internships, study abroad experience or and research etc.

German taught programs are highly recommended as “German” is a scientific language. It’s well known that more than 50% of the scientific journals  are yet to translate in to English, French or any other foreign languages.

Most of the electives in German universities are taught in German and those who study in German or bilingual medium of instruction are highly benefitted. German taught programs naturally demand better proficiency in German and that could be used as a great opportunity to learn German language prior to the commencement of the degree studies. You may start learning in your home country and achieve the maximum level you can, and the rest in Germany. You may also choose to learn the language in Germany, from the basic level to the required level, A1-C1 Level.

Employers give a great level of importance, while hiring an employee, for the German proficiency  as their employees might need to deal with many paper-works and situations where better German communications skills are required.


There is a Master degree course in Germany for everyone provided holding a bachelor degree with not less than 50% in all subjects.

There is a Bachelor degree course in a German University for all those who have achieved at least 50% marks in all subjects in the higher secondary school education examination (12th grade).
